Ackles, in addition to continuing his great performance, also directs this episode. This is his best directed episode yet, as he’s steadily improving in that field. He also has more to do as Dean than he has in several of the episodes he previously directed. I like the fact that he gets better at what he does the more he does it. If you enjoyed his performance as an evil version of Dean last week, you get more of the same here. If ever there was a reason for Supernatural to end, it would be to free Ackles up to do more with his career. He’s starting to become too good for The CW.
